“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.”

Aging is something that I haven’t really thought about until I ran into a few videos recently. How many people have a belief that they will end up a decrepit old man or woman? Probably most people. After all, isn’t that how it ended up for your grandma and grandpa? I know it did for mine. All my grandparents have died in my lifetime and none of their deaths have been a pretty site. One grandma died probably 200 lbs overweight, bed ridden with diabetes. It was a sad scenario.

The good news is it doesn’t have to be like that. We can make the decision to take care of our body. We can treat it with care, and do proactive things to keep it in-shape. In fact, I have read a few studies on aging and it’s been very interesting. One of them showed that older age does not cause testosterone levels to decline in healthy men (study link). Another showed that seniors respond as well as young adults to strength exercise (study link). There are tons of studies and examples that demonstrate that aging doesn’t have to mean becoming decrepit and miserable. To me this is just more motivation to live right.

In the end:

“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing”

and below are a few examples that prove it.

I love thinking about aging. Its not a fun topic, but one I obsess over even at 16.

there’s actually evidence that we stop aging at a certain point. the problem is that most people’s “Stop point” is over 100 and they die before that. I plan on going all the way :D
