I don’t know if I have the absolute answers on how to become more grateful so maybe the title of this post is misleading. But I do know that if you’re not consciously striving to become a more grateful person you are missing out on vast amounts of potential joy in this life.
Gratefulness=joy…there really is no difference.
I’m convinced that the difference between people who are happy and people who aren’t comes down to the ability to be grateful on a regular basis. I’ve written about this concept slightly here, but it’s really been hitting me hard lately.
So what does it take to become more grateful? In my opinion, it’s becoming more aware of reality while shedding mind-made distortions. Our minds are really really good at coming up with distortions and biases and leave us unhappy, discontent and ultimately out of touch with what is real.
Reality is an amazing thing in and of itself and for us to have the privilege to be apart of it is sufficient enough to allow yourself to experience being grateful. Nothing more is needed. Nothing more needs to really be said.
I’m still working on this myself (obviously) and will be until the day I die. Hopefully someday I’ll be less of a shit head and more of a saint.
My strategy going forward will be to listen and meditate on the following narration daily. It is definitely a high priority life goal of mine to obtain the level of authentic gratefulness that clearly comes through the narrator of the clip below.

Great work Sam. I’ve found that prayer is a great way to practice gratitude. Instead of asking for, you say thank you for. Thank you for the richness of life.
I’ve found tapping is a great releasing tool. When we are free of our deep conditioning we can actually be grateful for all the wealth in the world.
Then we are entrusted to give more and receive more.
